About Renaissance Wood Floor Revival

Restoring Character – Preserving Craft.
At Renaissance Wood Floor Revival, we specialise in the professional sanding, repair and finishing of timber floors across Teesside and North Yorkshire.
We don’t replace floors unnecessarily.
We restore them properly.
Every floor has potential — whether it’s worn pine in a Victorian terrace, oak boards in a family home, or a high-traffic community hall floor. Our job is to unlock that potential using the correct process, professional machinery and a disciplined finishing system.
The name Renaissance itself was inspired by conversations and influence from Charlie Ingle, whose professional approach to preserving timber floors reinforced the belief that restoration is a craft — not just a trade. His disciplined standards and respect for original materials helped shape the philosophy behind this business.
When Andy discussed using the name Charlie said Go For it! and that was all the inspiration Andy needed.
Meet Andrew Knowles
Founder & Lead Floor Restoration Specialist

Renaissance was founded by Andrew Knowles with one simple principle:
Wood floor restoration should be done to a standard — not rushed to a price.
After years working in professional floor and surface care, Andrew focused specifically on timber restoration. Too many original floors were being replaced when they could be revived.
Renaissance was created to offer:
- Proper sanding sequences
- Controlled, dust-managed processes
- Durable water-based lacquer systems
- Clear aftercare guidance
What Makes Us Different
Specialist Equipment
We use professional belt sanding systems, precision edging machines and commercial dust extraction to ensure a controlled, consistent finish. Preparation matters — and so does equipment.
Structural Repairs
Where required, we carry out:
- Pine sliver gap repairs
- Deep scratch removal
- Stain and pet damage correction
These are the details that separate a basic sand from a true restoration.
Professional Finishing Systems
We apply high-performance, low-VOC water-based lacquers in matt, satin or commercial grades depending on usage. Correct temperature, curing times and preparation are strictly followed to ensure durability.
No shortcuts. No guesswork.

Who We Work With
We restore floors for:
- Homeowners renovating original pine or oak floors
- Period properties requiring sympathetic restoration
- Schools and community halls
- Landlords upgrading tired timber floors
- Commercial spaces requiring durable finishes
Whether domestic or commercial, the approach remains the same:
Professional standards. Clean working practices. Clear communication.

Why Restore Instead of Replace?
Timber floors are structural and character-defining features of a property. In most cases, they can be restored at a fraction of the cost of replacement while preserving the authenticity of the space.
A properly restored floor can:
- Increase property appeal
- Improve light and space perception
- Add long-term durability
- Retain original character
Restoration is often the smarter investment.
